A greenlight for Green Lantern, or a rumor?

by Paul William Tenny

I see that a number of film sites have linked to an FX producer that announced on her blog that Green Latern got a greenlight and will start shooting in about 10 weeks. That news came to me via the Hollywood Wiretap newsletter (linking to Superhero Hype), but I also see it on Slashfilm and some other places.

Only one problem: Karen Goulekas, the producer in question, deleted that post and hasn't said anything else on her blog about the matter.
The post is still cached by Google for the time being (but that won't last for ever). Here it is in its entirety:

Wow! Been a long time since I posted! But today is a day worth posting about!

Green Lantern got the official green light today! And not a second too soon - only 10 weeks out from shooting!

While it's great news we are a go - now we have to actually get our prep done in 10 weeks!
DOH!

But we have an amazing crew - so we will make it happen!

Will post again soon!

That would put principal photography sometime in the third week of March, for a 2011 release, would be my guess. So what does the disappearing post mean? It could be that Goulekas got her signals crossed and the film has not been greenlit at all, or could simply be that she wasn't cleared to release that information yet and had to pull it down.

I have an email out to Karen Goulekas and I'll post an update if I hear back from her. For now I'd take this news as an unconfirmed rumor.
