Dexter is murder for Showtime ratings

in ,

dexter.jpgI don't know if you've ever seen Dexter before, but it's a really great show. Don't get a chance to see very many since it's on Showtime and I think paying for more channels twice is kind of absurd, but I've seen a few. More than enough to know I'd be a die hard fan if it was airing on a network, or even a basic-cable channel like FX. It would fit in perfectly with Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me, don't you think?

Anyway, those guys over there have a lot to be happy when Dexter apparently broke a ratings record for Showtime, so says Reuters. Kind of funny when you consider Showtime foaming at the mouth over 1.2 million viewers when it takes five times that on a broadcast network just to beg not to get canceled. I like that framework though, because it means there are places on TV where a show without mass appeal can find a place to live and entertain those people who do enjoy whatever brand of entertainment it sells.

Do yourself a favor if you haven't seen this series, and find a way to check it out. Check iTunes, download a couple of episodes, rent a season through Netflix, whatever you need to do. It's good stuff.

About us

There really isn't any "us" here, just me. I used to mock bloggers but eventually started one to muse about my main interest: writing for television and film. Turned out to be a natural fit. Successful I am not, but I add my voice to the noise anyway and hope you enjoy the content here.
