63rd Primetime Emmy Award Nominations

by Paul William Tenny

You don't need the crap, so here's the short list of nominations for tonight's award ceremony (8pm EST, FOX). My quick takeaway:

NBC, ABC, and FOX got shutout of the best drama category. All of cable got shutout of the best comedy category. That's an odd setup since dramas cost lots and sitcoms are cheap (unless they go on for a long time). You'd expect the cable networks, which have smaller audiences and less money, to go with sitcoms. But they didn't. And it's paying off because the best dramas (except House) are all on cable.
